The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Española Police officers, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies or State Police responded to the following calls:

  12:05 a.m. An Upper San Pedro Road caller said her family is running all around the house and she doesn’t want them to get in trouble, but it’s been an ongoing issue.

  4:19 a.m. A County Road 56 in Chamita caller reported a power line is sparking and catching the trees on fire.

  5:17 a.m. A caller said he lives behind Allsups and wants to report that a vehicle is always parked and running on the side of the building.

  9:12 a.m. A caller reported finding the door at Del Norte Credit Union open.

  10:20 a.m. A Calle Sueños caller said a bobcat and trailer were stolen from a job site.

  10:27 a.m. A North Railroad Avenue caller reported her house was broken into and her computer and blanket were taken.

  10:34 a.m. A Santo Niño Lane caller said she thinks there’s a gas leak coming from her bedroom.

  11:07 a.m. A State Road 76 caller reported a mobile home is on fire.

  11:36 a.m. A report was filed at the Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Office, for a stolen poly cart.

  12:13 p.m. A Velarde caller said she got a call from a woman claiming to be a border control officer. The woman said someone stole the caller’s identity.

  12:20 p.m. A Santa Clara Apartments caller reported the building has been condemned and they are trying to do paperwork, but there are too many people in the hallways and the caller wants them dispersed.

  1:22 p.m. A caller said her daughter and six other girls had their basketball shoes stolen from the locker room.

  1:33 p.m. An Allsups caller reported a man was throwing things around in the store, then left.

  2:05 p.m. A South McCurdy Road caller said her dog ran into the middle of the street and got run over. The caller wants someone from the Streets Department to pick up the dog. 

  2:24 p.m. A report was filed at the Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Office, for a stolen poly cart.

  2:25 p.m. A Shoe Dept. caller said a man who appears to be homeless is outside, yelling.

  2:40 p.m. An Ojo Sarco caller reported a catalytic converter was stolen.

  3:12 p.m. An Ohkay Headstart caller said a catalytic converter was stolen.

  3:37 p.m. A South McCurdy Road and Camino de Roberto caller reported a man in a Jeep is attacking him.

  5:06 p.m. A Las Vegas Street caller reported a puddle of water with bubbles coming out of the ground.

  5:12 p.m. A Wendy’s caller said an employee is fighting with their girlfriend.

  6:10 p.m. A stolen vehicle was recovered at North McCurdy Road and Pino Alto Lane.

  6:17 p.m. A Los Alamos Highway caller said a reckless driver kicked up rocks which broke her windshield.

  10:04 p.m. A Calle Chueco caller reported a vehicle is parked in her yard and she wants an officer to check it out.

  1:16 a.m. An Española Hospital caller said a man was discharged but won’t leave. He’s being verbally abusive toward staff.

  4:22 a.m. A vehicle allegedly hit an elk in Brazos.

  7:40 a.m. A Family Dollar in Chimayó caller reported someone broke in and took all the propane tanks.

  9:39 a.m. A Dollar General in Hernandez caller said a woman is outside, panhandling and when they approach her, she acts like she’s nodding off.

  10:26 a.m. A Las Vegas Street caller reported the neighbor’s dog keeps going to her yard, eating her dog’s food and defecating in her yard.

  11:30 a.m. A Bellas Lane caller said her brother had dementia and made a scene and she can’t get him in the car.

  11:48 a.m. An Income Support Division caller reported there are four people sleeping in a ditch.

  11:56 a.m. A Rock Christian Fellowship caller said someone stole several items from the second-hand store.

  12:15 p.m. A caller reported a man is panhandling in the median by Walmart and Wendy’s.

  12:15 p.m. A North Paseo de Oñate caller said a catalytic converter was stolen.

  2:08 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a 30-year-old man with schizophrenia.

  2:17 p.m. A Top Notch Barbershop caller said a woman just got out of jail and is calling the business and threatening him.

  2:56 p.m. A Fairview Elementary caller said a four-year-old child has bruises on his cheek and eye and has missed a lot of school.

  3:05 p.m. A City Hall caller reported a tablet and computer are missing.

  3:07 p.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller said a man pulled a gun on the caller’s workers.

  3:43 p.m. A Food King caller requested a welfare check on a man slumped over in a car.

  3:59 p.m. A deputy got a call about a man RASO dealt with before and the caller wanted to know if the Sheriff’s Office could send someone to get the man. He has dementia and is walking toward Española from Medanales.

  4:03 p.m. A McDonald’s caller said a man is yelling and hitting trees.

  5:13 p.m. A Po Pay Avenue caller said his wife is driving drunk. He tried to take the keys from her and she ran him over and almost hit another car.

  5:17 p.m. A man on Po Pay Avenue with what appeared to be fresh scrapes, flagged down an officer.

  5:45 p.m. A Holy Cross School caller said a man is staggering and walking on State Road 76.

  6:22 p.m. A Calle Cielito Lindo caller reported a person is threatening to shoot up a school.

  6:50 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man who’s close to the road on Taos Lane and Fairview Lane.

  8:37 p.m. A Thorton Lane caller said someone is knocking on the door, saying they need help with a flat tire.

  10:21 p.m. An Ash Loop caller reported someone is walking “quite briskly.”

  10:30 p.m. A Rio Arriba County Detention Center caller said two prisoners are being unruly.

  10:52 p.m. A Calle del Rio caller reported hearing shots fired.

  5:21 a.m. A Speedway caller requested a welfare check on a homeless person covered in a blanket.

  6:51 a.m. A Subway caller wants a man who’s sleeping in a blanket next to the ice machine outside, to be dispersed.

  8:45 a.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller said she has a restraining order on her son and as she was leaving, she saw him walking onto her property.

  8:51 a.m. A caller reported a man is standing in the median and panhandling near North Riverside Drive and Valley Drive.

  8:51 a.m. A caller said a man is covered in a blanket and drunk and being disorderly near the Park and Ride on Paseo de Oñate.

  9:04 a.m. An Allsups caller said they asked a man to leave but he’s refusing.

  9:38 a.m. A Speedway caller reported two men are passed out in their vehicles in the parking lot.

  11:13 a.m. A Speedway caller said a man is smoking drugs in the bathroom. The caller said they asked the manager to close the bathroom and spray some disinfectant and air it out because they don’t want a child to be exposed to whatever was being smoked.

  12:56 p.m. A Motel 6 caller reported a man in one of the rooms stole the caller’s computer last week.

  1:01 p.m. An officer said a man at the Santa Clara Apartments won’t identify himself and is being disorderly.

  2:04 p.m. A Park and Ride caller reported a drunk man fell and hit his head and is bleeding.

  2:33 p.m. A deputy reported being bitten by a dog in Cordova.

  2:51 p.m. A Food King caller said her wallet was stolen.

  3:09 p.m. A Private Drive 1148 in La Mesilla caller reported a person in a Jeep was firing shots.

  3:12 p.m. A Domino’s Pizza caller requested a welfare check on a woman slumped over by the Windstream box.

  4:26 p.m. A Bode’s General Store caller reported a 34-year-old man is unconscious and not breathing. He might be overdosing. The caller said the man is choking and CPR is in progress. Two doses of Narcan were administered.

  7;28 p.m. A Murphy’s Express caller reported a woman by the ice cooler might be doing drugs.

  9:05 p.m. An Abiquiú caller said several shots were fired.

  9:17 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a vehicle by the dumpster that’s been there a while.

  10:41 p.m. A Speedway caller said two men and two women are asking the cashier if there’s money in the drawer.

  3:23 a.m. A Medanales caller reported there’s smoke under the bridge.

  8:43 a.m. A Darrin’s Place caller requested that an officer pick up some drug parapharnalia, to include suboxone strips and a fentanyl pill.

  9 a.m. An Española Pathways Shelter caller said a man who is a client, set up a tent and is refusing to take it down and comply with the rules.

  9:14 a.m. A Velarde caller reported a woman who used to live there is no longer wanted there.

  9:34 a.m. A Calle Redonda caller said her husband asked her to pick up a bike and when she refused, he threatened to burn down her house.

  10:05 a.m. A Food King caller reported people are doing in and taking items. They want them dispersed.

  10:33 a.m. A Star Lane caller said people have a tent set up at a condemned house and they want the homeless people dispersed.

  12:12 p.m. An Allsups caller reported a man outside took off his clothes and dumped trash all over. He’s now in his underwear.

  12:21 p.m. A Goodwill caller requested a welfare check on a man in a sleeping bag who doesn’t want to leave.

  12:29 p.m. A Private Drive 1062 in Alcalde caller said her adult daughters are fighting and pulling each other’s hair.

  1:32 p.m. A West Jonathan Drive caller reported a woman is screaming and walking around his property.

  1:44 p.m. An officer investigated a case of a student in possession at the Española Middle School.

  2 p.m. A Walmart caller said a man has been asked several times, to leave, but he’s refusing.

  3:07 p.m. A Fairview Lane caller reported several homeless people are setting up tents behind her house.

  3:35 p.m. A woman called the Sheriff’s Office to report a stolen poly cart.

  4:25 p.m. A caller said they heard shots fired at Calle Culebra and El Llano Road.

  5:20 p.m. An officer was called to the Santa Claran Casino Hotel because two non-tribal women scratched each other. 

  10:36 p.m. A Velarde caller said her sister and boyfriend are being belligerent.

  10:40 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported a 37-year-old man is unconscious but breathing after mixing medication with alcohol.

  11:10 a.m. A Calle del Rio caller said someone is conducting an illegal burn in a metal drum.

  5:48 a.m. A single-vehicle rollover was reported near Cañones.

  7:52 a.m. A Star Lane caller reported someone is trespassing on a piece of property that’s been condemned.

  8:01 a.m. A Fry Street caller said a was left tied up and the caller feels that it’s abuse.

  8:50 a.m. A Chama caller reported flames and smoke coming from the roof of a home.

  9:03 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an elderly man at Del Norte Credit Union because a woman is being mean to him. The man told the caller the woman threw food in his face.

  9:10 a.m. A Santo Niño Lane caller said a man is sleeping in his shed.

  9:41 a.m. A South Paseo de Oñate caller reported his warehouse was broken into and a DeWalt pressure washer was taken.

  9:50 a.m. A Walmart caller said a man is getting aggressive and spitting on people.

  10:31 a.m. An Allsups caller reported a man is digging through the trash, dumping it all over the property and hanging around the building.

  10:41 a.m. A Truchas caller said a man is on drugs and is breaking windows.

  10:43 a.m. A Cañada Court caller reported a 65-year-old man is unconscious, not breathing and is cold to the touch. The Office of the Medical Investigator was called.

  10:56 a.m. An Espinoza Lane caller said his catalytic converter was stolen.

  10:57 a.m. An Alcalde caller reported a 16-year-old girl is irate, violent and out of control.

  11:06 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an elderly man near the Dollar General on West Santa Clara Bridge Road because he seems to have dementia or Alzheimer’s and needs a ride home.

  11:16 a.m. A West Shadowood Lane and Glenwood Avenue caller said two people are breaking into his neighbor’s house.

  11:21 a.m. A caller reported a driver is throwing alcohol bottles from their truck near Holy Cross Street.

  12:48 p.m. A Calle del Rio caller reported seeing smoke and said it smells like someone is burning plastic.

  1:31 p.m. A Calle Chueco caller said three people on on his property, doing drugs.

  1:56 p.m. An Angel Duran Drive caller reported a homeless woman is refusing to leave.

  2:24 p.m. A Hernandez caller requested a welfare check on a man walking in the middle of the road.

  2:43 p.m. A Walmart caller reported a woman physically attacked an employee and tried running out of the store with a cart full of items.

  2:27 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man walking in the middle of the road near South Paseo de Oñate and Calle Salazar.

  2:51 p.m. A deputy conducted courtesy rounds at La Tierra Montessori because of a protest that was happening. He noted everything was “peaceful at this time.”

  3:16 p.m. A Rock Christian Fellowship caller requested a welfare check on a man lying on the ground.

  3:29 p.m. An El Paisano Market caller requested a welfare check on a man lying on the ground. The caller said another man was hitting him, trying to wake him up.

  3:58 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man walking in the road near Northern New Mexico College.

  4:14 p.m. A Hernandez caller requested a welfare check on a man walking in the road.

  4:29 p.m. A South McCurdy Road caller reported smoke is coming out of a school building.

  5:09 p.m. A Rock Christian Fellowship caller said a man is taking copper wire out of an electrical box.

  5:34 p.m. A South Paseo de Oñate caller reported someone is breaking into his building.

  6:44 p.m. A Walmart caller said several cars are parked near each other and the people inside them are trying to fight; they are yelling, pointing fingers at each other and arguing.

  6:58 p.m. A Yucca Street caller reported her dad won’t help her put a blanket on her legs. She said she’s not on drugs or anything.

  7:35 p.m. A Private Drive 1333 in Española caller said a man cut off his ankle bracelet.

  7:37 p.m. An Ohkay Casino caller reported an employee was followed to work after some type of roadway incident. The man that followed the employee told her to “watch it” and called her names.

  7:58 p.m. A Speedway caller said a man in a truck is chugging miniatures.

  8 p.m. A Subway caller reported a drunk man is throwing things at customers and taking the tips.

  8:16 p.m. A caller said a couple of people are sleeping by the drive thru and they want them dispersed.

  8:31 p.m. A Walgreens caller reported a customer dropped two marijuana joints on the counter at the pharmacy.

  2:24 a.m. A Calle Redonda caller said his daughter has been drinking and is hitting him.

  8:46 a.m. An officer stopped to conduct a welfare check on a man walking in the road. The man was issued a citation.

  9:41 a.m. A Private Drive 1613 in Medanales caller said someone is trying to break into a house that’s boarded up.

  11:10 a.m. A Walgreens caller reported three men are panhandling.

  11:17 a.m. A Walgreens caller said a woman is in the dumpster, throwing trash in the parking lot.

  11:42 a.m. A County Road 140 in Medanales caller reported a woman against whom he has a restraining order is blocking the entrance to his house.

  12:46 p.m. A caller said a truck hit a pedestrian as it was pulling out of Food King.

  1:16 p.m. A Dandy Burger caller wants to speak with an officer because someone may have taken her car keys.

  1:47 p.m. A caller requested courtesy rounds at Walmart because they don’t feel safe, shopping.

  3:24 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man walking in the road near Angelina’s on North Railroad Avenue.

  3:46 p.m. A caller reported his wife’s stolen credit card is being used on DoorDash in Española.

  4:55 p.m. A Dandy Burger caller said a drunk man is refusing to leave and is yelling and throwing things.

  5:27 p.m. A La Puebla Road caller reported her daughter is drunk and jumped out of her boyfriend’s car and took off into the forest.

  5:32 p.m. A Mariscos la Playa caller said his daughter’s car was broken into and her AirPods were stolen. He said they tracked them to Old Hospital Road and he wants help in getting them back.

  5:34 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported people are watching his house. He thinks someone made a copy of the key and they’re going into the house. He also believes someone is tampering with his father’s food.

  5:45 p.m. A Juniper Lane caller said a woman came and took his keys. He wants to know what he can do to get them back.

  7:01 p.m. A Garcia Tires caller reported a man fell and busted the back of his head and is bleeding.

  8:24 p.m. An F&A Carwash caller said a man tried to hit him and is accusing him of taking his dog.

  10:21 p.m. An East Pueblo Street caller reported a one-day-old baby is choking on breast milk.

  10:26 p.m. A Greenfield Road caller said someone in the area is playing loud music.

  10:39 p.m. An Ohkay Casino caller phoned 911 and whispered that he needs a ride out of the parking lot.

  2:32 a.m. An officer reported seeing thick, black smoke coming from the area of Desert Sun Motors. A tire was on fire.

  6:14 a.m. An East Pueblo Street caller said her 37-year-old boyfriend cut his wrist.

  8:32 a.m. A Private Drive 1130 in Española caller reported her 30-year-old son has been off his medication for three months and is schizophrenic. She said he’s being aggressive and wants him checked out.

  8:34 a.m. A Walgreens caller said a woman is threatening employees.

  9 a.m. A Speedway caller reported someone was trying to mess with a car’s door handle.

  10:19 a.m. An Española Post Office caller said it appears someone drove into the building or otherwise damaged it because the wall is cracked.

  10:51 a.m. A Velarde caller requested a welfare check on a woman who’s crying and has been without food or water for two days after being left stranded.

  11:09 a.m. A Dollar Tree in Española caller said several homeless people are harassing customers and the caller wants them dispersed.

  11:44 a.m. An Alcalde caller wants to speak with someone from the fire department because the fire extinguisher is leaking and there’s an icicle on the bottom of it.

  12:11 p.m. A Calle Don Diego caller said someone is stealing from their carport.

  1:29 p.m. A Food King caller reported a possible brush fire behind the building.

  1:38 p.m. A Calle del Sol caller said someone is stalking her and a pregnant woman is harassing her. She feels her life is in danger.

  3:05 p.m. A Dairy Queen caller reported a man is on the ground.

  4:36 p.m. A caller said a 12-year-old girl got lost, walking home from her grandmother’s house in El Rito.

  5:05 p.m. A Guachupangue Road caller reported a man stole an appliance from her neighbor’s yard.

  5:09 p.m. A caller said she placed an online order at Domino’s Pizza and the employees said they don’t know what time the pizza will be done, so she asked for a refund, however, they won’t give her one.

  6:17 p.m. An Española Hospital caller reported a patient in the emergency room is being combative.

  7:47 p.m. A Camino de Colores caller said a Jeep stopped and a man jumped out and took all the letters and numbers off the license place.

  7:58 p.m. A Villa del Norte Apartments caller reported a man carrying a box is refusing to leave.

  10:11 p.m. A County Road 87 in Chimayó caller said a woman is banging on the doory, trying to get in the house.
